There is a free food Pantry in the LaMotte post office. Even when the lobby window is closed, the north side door to the post office is open as residents can get their mail from the lobby. The pantry is self-served.

Julia Cook will be going live on her Facebook page at 9am on Monday’s and Fridays to read some of her most popular books and provide a fun lesson to do at home! Take advantage of this great opportunity for Social Emotional Learning while you are at home with your students. I use a wide variety of Julia Cook books for classroom lessons at the elementary level and I would love to see any pictures or videos of you and your students doing the activities! I hope you enjoy this opportunity! -Mrs. Adrian

Students from 4th, 5th and 6th grade represented the Andrew Talented and Gifted program at the 13th Annual QCESC Battle of the Bridges competition at the Putnam Museum on Friday. Teams were challenged to build a lightweight bridge that could sustain a large amount of weight. The most efficient bridges and most intuitive designs were celebrated. Our students performed well! All three teams placed within the top four of most efficient bridges. A huge congratulations to our sixth graders for being awarded the FIRST place trophy for the most efficient bridge in the elementary team pool! The students and Mr. Riedesel agree it was an amazing first experience for our school and that they can’t wait to go back next year. Go Hawks!!

Parents and Guardians, Mr. Notz and Mr. Kirchhoff will be at school until 5:30 if you would like to come over tonight instead of tomorrow afternoon to get your computer. We know this may benefit a lot of you so it won't eat your lunch break time that way.

Please look at the News Feed section, Facebook, or Twitter for two important posts. One post is about online resources to support student learning at home. The other is one is about assisting families with a FREE lunch program starting this week.

At the recommendation of the governor of Iowa, Andrew CSD will be closed for a minimum of four weeks. Effective March 17, only essential staff will be able to access the school. Staff PD will be held as scheduled for March 16. If you need any student belongings, etc please gather them from school tomorrow. We are working on plans to offer options for learning at home, meals for students, and more. We will communicate additional details as soon as possible. We urge you to practice social distancing as much as possible to protect the elderly and those with other health issues. Remember, we are a school family and we will get through this together. Take Care.

Dear Andrew Community, The Andrew administration is continuing to work with all our partners to determine the best course of action to best respond to the coronavirus threat. No decisions have been made but there is a strong chance that extended school closures will occur, even as early as Tuesday of this week. Please coordinate plans with your family to prepare for any changes in our school schedule. We will keep you posted ASAP with any new developments. Take Care!
