Andrew CSD Families...We are in the process of finalizing all the components of our Voluntary Distance Learning Plan that we hope to roll out by the end of the day. In the meantime, please be sure to check your emails for any updates from your child's teacher today.

Today, the Governor of Iowa announced that school closures will extend thru April 30, 2020. Moving forward, the state will examine the data every two weeks to determine the course of action. Andrew CSD will reach out to all families next week to inform you of our plan to offer voluntary educational opportunities for April 13 - April 30.

Starting Wednesday April 1st, we will be handing out lunches in front of the office doors instead of the park. Simply drive up and we'll drop off your lunches to your car. You won't even have to get out of your car.

If you receive meal deliveries, please have a cooler or box outside your front door. When we drop off your meals, we will put your meals in the container you provide for us and ring your doorbell/knock. We are doing this to social distance during these crazy times.

There is a free food Pantry in the LaMotte post office. Even when the lobby window is closed, the north side door to the post office is open as residents can get their mail from the lobby. The pantry is self-served.

Hi Andrew students and families!
I have posted the 1st Kindness Challenge video on my flip grid page! I am challenging our students to write a note or draw a picture to give someone they are missing during this extra time at home. It could be a friend, grandparents, or a teacher! Post a video back to me on flip grid and tell me who your wrote your note or drew a picture for :) Miss you all! The link to my flip grid is below.

Julia Cook will be going live on her Facebook page at 9am on Monday’s and Fridays to read some of her most popular books and provide a fun lesson to do at home! Take advantage of this great opportunity for Social Emotional Learning while you are at home with your students. I use a wide variety of Julia Cook books for classroom lessons at the elementary level and I would love to see any pictures or videos of you and your students doing the activities! I hope you enjoy this opportunity!

Beware: Leprechaun traps in the making! Stay tune for our finished projects.

Graphing in 1st grade!

Students from 4th, 5th and 6th grade represented the Andrew Talented and Gifted program at the 13th Annual QCESC Battle of the Bridges competition at the Putnam Museum on Friday. Teams were challenged to build a lightweight bridge that could sustain a large amount of weight. The most efficient bridges and most intuitive designs were celebrated.
Our students performed well! All three teams placed within the top four of most efficient bridges. A huge congratulations to our sixth graders for being awarded the FIRST place trophy for the most efficient bridge in the elementary team pool!
The students and Mr. Riedesel agree it was an amazing first experience for our school and that they can’t wait to go back next year. Go Hawks!!
