For the 2023-2024 school year, Wednesday LEAP will go from 1:30-3:30. We are needing to make this change because at this time we are not able to locate staff to work the entire 4-hour afternoon.
We wanted to get this message out to you as soon as possible so you were able to make the necessary plans/arrangements for your children next school year.

Registration for Andrew Community School will be held on August 8,2023 in the school Conference Room from 9:00 - 6:00. You are also welcome to register online. Packets with information will be sent out later in the week.
23 - 24 School Supply List
The last day of 21st century after school conference was not a disappointment. We were honored to meet and listen to the founders of after school programs. We learned about several new, fun learning activities that we can incorporate into our LEAP program. Also did a little sightseeing after the conference. Had the famous beignets that everyone has been talking about. They were awesome!
After School Summer Conference is amazing and very informative. We were privileged to see and listen to
Jackie Joyner-Kersee talk about her challenges growing up, as well as, her devotion to after school programs. But I think the highlight of today was seeing a piece of artwork displayed from one of our own students for all in attendance to view. Congratulations Piper!
We ended our day with a trolley ride around New Orleans.

Parents & Guardians, Some of you have been asking us to see if we can upload our lists onto a site where you can simply do a couple of clicks and order all of your school supplies. We have made this feature available this year. It may be a little more expensive to do this feature so make sure you look at your price before you purchase. Here are the directions: 1) Go onto teacherlists.com 2) Scroll down to the parent section and click "Find a List". 3) Select Iowa and type in Andrew Community School. 4) Select what grade you want. 5) Select what store you want to purchase the school supplies you want. 6) REVIEW YOUR CART!! Make sure you look at the price, confirm the items are what you want, and edit your cart as you see fit. Some items don't exactly match up with the vendors. 7) Confirm the purchase with the store you chose.
LEAP spent today hiking at Prairie Creek and playing at Little Bear Park
There is a change in plans for LEAP tomorrow Friday, June 30th.
We will be hiking at Prairie Creek Recreation Area. We will not be going to Storybook Hill Children's Zoo. Please make sure your children dress appropriately.

Lots of fun on our 2 mile hike at the Maquoketa Caves this morning! We definitely wore the kids out! They had fun helping Miss Alyssa celebrate her 21st birthday today by singing to her!! 🎂🥳🏞️🥾
The summer school students and LEAP students who are attending Monday's trip to Moore Farm, please wear old shoes and old clothes.

Summer School & LEAP Families,
Remember Monday is all day LEAP day. All students that participated in summer school or signed up for summer LEAP are invited to go on a fun day of learning at the Moore Farm and Business. We will be leaving at about 9:15 and returning at about 2:30. Students need to be picked up by 3:30 like normal.
Fun day with the ladies from the Iowa state Extension! We enjoyed making roller coasters, boats, lanterns and straw airplanes!
LEAP had such a great day with the Jackson County Historical Society.
Reminder for students who do summer school and summer LEAP. Sign up for our zoo trip on August 3rd needs to be turned in by this Thursday, June 22nd.
Yesterday, LEAP spent the afternoon at the Andrew Fire Station. We learned some very important lessons about fire safety. We may have a few future fire fighters. Thank you Andrew Firefighters!
Mrs Kilburg's summer school class is having lots of fun building and learning how to tell time!
The Iowa State Extension read us a book about bubbles! Then we made our own bubble wands out of pipe cleaners and had fun making bubbles. 🫧
