State Patrol Teaches Internet Safety!

posted Aug 27, 2012, 10:06 AM by andy.crozier@andrew.k12.ia.us
On Monday, August 27, Iowa State Patrol Officer Dan Callahan spoke to 4th-8th grade students at Andrew about internet safety. Trooper Dan, as he has the kids address him, highlighted some strategies for students to be safe online and also pointed out some dangers of the internet. Many topics were covered including, but not limited to, social media (Facebook), cyber bullying, private information, and how to report unusual or uncomfortable online behavior to adults.

Andrew Schools is very thankful for this Iowa State Patrol program for kids as it's a great learning opportunity for all. Don't be afraid to ask your kids questions about the 50 minute program when they are at home. Much of the material Trooper Dan uses is located on the web at NetSmartz.org. Feel free to look at the content and use the activities at home with your child.
